Degree of Honor Scholarships Education is a core value that helps bind together the Degree of Honor community. With that in mind we provide scholarships to insured members who display the desire to learn along with a commitment to volunteer in their communities. These scholarships are available to high school seniors and to lifelong learners of any age. One requirement Applicants must have been insured with Degree of Honor for a minimum of two years. We are extremely proud to present Margaret Daniel and Sharon Daniel-Norman as Degree of Honors 2015 Volunteers of the Year. The recognition is fitting as the mother and daughter have long been tireless community stewards and both epitomize what Degree of Honor stands for. The award comes with a 1000 donation to the charity of their choice they will donate the funds to American Legion Post 32 in Beckley West Virginia an organization both have been actively involved with. I usually dont have trouble talking to anyone Sharon says. But when I found out wed won the award I was speechless Its such a big honor and sharing it with my mom makes it that much more special. We believe that by following Degree of Honors mission at a local level our work can spread and affect others throughout the world adds Margaret president of Degree of Honor Lodge 56 which is also in Beckley West Virginia. Over the years the women have done everything from working with the Adopt-a-Highway program to helping coal miners obtain medical benefits. But the bulk of their work has been in service to veterans. In addition to coordinating donations to the American Legion Post they prepare and serve free food to hundreds of people as part of the posts annual Veterans Day activities. Sharon is quick to credit her fellow service club members for their efforts. Our club members are extraordinary she says. We all work hard to live up to Degree of Honors motto Insurance with a Heart. Thats where we get our inspiration.
