This silent film recently discovered in the Degree of Honor archives takes us back to June of 1938, for the 23rd Degree of Honor National Convention, held in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
At the film’s opening, several Degree of Honor members can be seen gathering to rehearse for the Convention and enjoy a bit of fun.
Much of the film highlights the Juvenile Pageant at Saint Paul’s Como Park, during which children from numerous Degree of Honor Juvenile Clubs throughout Minnesota performed plays and drills for the Convention.
During the Pageant, facing the camera and seated at center stage, we see Frances Buell Olson. This short film is perhaps the only existing footage of the then-67-year-old National President.
